After studying architecture at Gloucestershire College of Art, George Sowden moved to Milan to work with Ettore Sottsass and typewriter manufacturer Olivetti. In 1981, he became one of the founders of the design collective Memphis Group, and in decades since he’s collaborated with several companies, including Alessi, Swatch, Steelcase and Pyrex. The Sowden Coffee Pot (2017) consists of a stainless steel container, porcelain exterior and polypropylene lid in playful contrasting hues. It’s equipped with an innovative SoftBrew™ brewing device that infuses coffee through a centrally located micro-thin filter to enhance flavor. Made in China.
